About our school

Nimmitabel Public School has been providing quality public education to the local area since 1869. Students are drawn from the immediate township and the surrounding rural areas. The school is located on the edge of the Great Dividing Range in south-eastern NSW with views of Mt Kosciuszko and the snow-capped mountains of the Monaro.

Historically, the school has maintained a strong focus on academic achievement, sporting success and creativity in 'The Arts'. The students at Nimmitabel Public School are supported by a teaching principal, part-time temporary teachers, and our school administrative and support staff. This allows the school to operate multi-stage classes across the week, with targeted literacy and numeracy groups. The school enjoys the support of its parent body, with an active P&C that support school programs and initiatives and play a vital role in the school's self-evaluation process.

The school is well resourced with three permanent classrooms, a well-stocked library, art and cooking facilities, and a 1:1 technology program. The school also has a large sporting field, tennis court, cricket nets, playground and access to the nearby Nimmitabel Golf Course, bowling greens, netball courts and town facilities.

The school is an active participant in local community events and activities, such as the Anzac Day memorial service. Our students have also been involved in initiatives such as the New Horizons Cultural program for years five and six, school drama productions, sporting teams and academic challenges. These unique learning opportunities foster a strong sense of belonging, pride and commitment to the school from the local community.

Through consultation with staff, families, students and the community, our situational analysis identified that we are committed to the process of continuous improvement. We maintain a strong focus on the academic, creative, social and physical domains of learning and prioritising positive engagement and mental and emotional wellbeing. We strive for all students to achieve academic excellence, with teachers and the school community holding high expectations for success.
