NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
Please write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given, in writing, to the office.
At Nimmitabel Public School, Combined Christian SRE is delivered on Wednesday afternoon from 2:15pm until 3pm with instruction targeting year levels K-2 and 3-6.
During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will participate in alternative meaningful activities under the supervision of a Classroom Teacher. Students will not be participating in lessons in the school curriculum or other extra-curricular activities during this time.
Special Religious Education (SRE): Combined Christian SRE
Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are Chris Haylock and Lynette Murphy. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider.
The Christian SRE curriculum is based on the Good News about Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of Christian life and culture. For more information, go to the curriculum website:
